Seasons 360 Bistro

InDesign, Phostoshop

Like a bicycle wheel, restaurants require many parts to successfully operate. The kitchen acts as the ‘hub’ of a restaurant, the ‘rim’ represents the building structure; while the ‘tire’ represents furnishings and decor, the ‘spokes’ demonstrate circulation (with the pedals acting as the workers).

The Seasons 360 Bistro will encompass the simplicity, sustainability, convenience, and circulation through a - farm to table - approach. The rustic, hand-crafted aesthetic will utilize minimal decoration, ample greenery and a variety of textures including wood, concrete, metal, and rope; to encompass the - back-to-basics - vibe of the restaurant. The space plan will offer an effortless and efficient circulation path, allowing diners and workers to rotate naturally through the space, mimicking the seasonal rotating menu.

Continuing the concept of the Nature of Nurturing, the project poster consists of similar aspects of design. The layout was designed to embody a nurturing tree. Starting from the bottom of the page lies the floor plan, elements of design and elevations that create the roots from which the success of the Canyon Center originates. These roots fuel the rest of the “tree”. Continuing to the trunk of the tree lies the concept statement which would be the strength and body of the center. The furniture pieces and materials located on the trunk and as the leaves represent the crown of the tree, which would be translated as the aesthetically pleasing visuals provided by the center. The images provided represent the beautiful outcome of this nurturing tree that is The Canyon Center School for Autism.

The Nature of Nurturing
Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders have uniquely
challenging struggles, which it difficult to learn the basic
developmental skills needed to lead a productive and ordinary
life. Nature has an effortless process of creating harmony in its
environment. Through the use of this natural process we will
mimic the sizes, colors, proportion, and shapes found throughout
nature. In order for this institution to establish the nurturing roots
necessary to create an environment, the essence of nature will
be seen in all aspects of the design.

Continuing the concept a bicycle wheel, the project poster was inspired by the visually circular form  of the wheel and the motion it creates. As the eye is moving through the poster it follows a circular path and is effortlessly directed towards the next item. Many elements used in the bistro are mirrored in the design of the poster, such as the wooden background is the wood used as the tabletops of the tables and the black background is from the chalkboard wall. Just like the important parts of a Bicycle wheel, this poster's images and references all operate together to provide functional information while being aesthetically pleasing.

Continuing the concept a path, the project poster was inspired by the Fibonacci spiral. Using the  spiral as a background element it subconsciously guides the eyes to start looking at the floor plan and follow the direction of the path. The idea of following the path of the spiral connects back to my concept by in the means that when the Fibonacci spiral is placed on the actual floor plan the center is located on the library. Essentially the most important part of the Cultural Center is the library, it is where the immigrants obtain information and knowledge to enrich their lives. The path of the spiral gives the reader a clear form of direction and understanding as what is to be read next and the important aspects along the way.

Concept
One chooses their own path in life, the choices made determine their futures. No two paths are identical and a multitude of barriers, circumstances, and detours may arise during the journey. Cielito Lindo: A Cultural Center for Hispanic Immigrants is a destination for the individual to pursue their life path by means of support and assistance from their community. By providing opportunities to progress in their mental, legal, and physical status, this center guides immigrants along the path to keep moving forward.
Significance
This center for immigrants will be specifically designed to assist the incoming population in the obstacles they might face during their first months in America. Having one place to go in order to receive a wide variety of services, not only benefits the immigrant population but also the country as a whole by creating members of society that can overall contribute to the nation.
This center will be its own community; a safe area where people can go to and get the assistance they need, a place where people’s lack of resources and information will no longer be an issue.
